Maine Photos

In late August Sue and I took a trip, first to Maine, then to Ireland. In Maine we stayed in my family's cottage and took a day trip to Monhegan Island. My friend Gerry, my sister Katie and her family, and my parents were in Maine then.

Gerry standing on a rock. Monhegan had lots of strange rocky areas, like this crevasse. You can't see here, but if Gerry had fallen the bottom was at least 20 feet down.

The rocky point there is called Black Head.

There was a seal in the ocean here, under another rocky point called White Head. The seal was much more exciting in real life. You can also see some birds in the water in the upper right part of the picture.

The town on Monhegan has lots of artists. Mostly they seem to paint, but one of them made this rock sculpture.

As we left, the boat went past a rock where there were lots of seals sunning themselves.
