Clifden Photos

Our flight landed in Ireland in the early morning. Then we drove from Shannon to Galway, got a room at a B&B, and slept for a couple hours (we were both really tired from the plane flight). After that we were planning on driving to Kylemore Abbey and the Connemara National Park, but we got lost and ended up in Clifden instead. We stopped into a pub and decided what to do next; since time was running low, we decided to see what was in Clifden instead of driving further. This was a good idea, Clifden was a pretty town. It was a cloudy day and it drizzled some but it never really rained.

On the way to Clifden there were lots of boggy ponds.

There is a castle in Clifden that is now a hotel. On the hill to the left you can see a monument that we hiked to.

This is looking back at Clifden from the monument. The monument was supposed to have a statue of Clifden's founder on top, but it never got finished.

It was windy on top of the hill. In fact, it was windy most of our trip.

Walking back from the monument. The yellow and purple flowers you see here were growing all over the Connemara area.
