Some Frequently Asked Questions to Admins

FAQ on escapers:

Admins don't deal with escaping, the system does. A player who leaves a time-limited game first gets marked as escaper. Above three escaped games, a player is not allowed to escape The oldest games which exceed this limit are automatically forfeit. When a player has 10 forfeits ("chronic escaper"), all games he is leaving first become forfeits immediately (auto-resign).

FAQ on how to become assistant/admin:

Assistants are chosen by admins among mature users known to help other users and newbies on the server. We recruit assistants when there is a need to, not to reward people. Especially, asking for it is definitely not the best way to be recruited: if you want to become an assistant, you'd better help the other users, maybe someday you'll be chosen. Finally, an assistant must be fluent in english and have some skills in moderating public rooms.

FAQ on KGS Room Creation and Maintenance Policy

FAQ on moderation in main rooms:

First, KGS is a family-aimed server. So the main chat rooms should be readable by people of any age from any culture. Thus, no sex related conversation and so on (see the current Terms Of Service in the Help Menu).

Second, the main purpose of the main chat rooms is to help users with go and KGS. So any discussion unrelated to these scopes will be tolerated only if it doesn't interfere with this aim and my first statement. In particular, if you think a question from a user is (or would be) flooded in such a conversation, then you must ask them to stop. It should be clear for the users that it is only a tolerance and not the purpose of those rooms.

N.B. Long discussions in a different language than the room's default language should be driven to their dedicated main room. Of course, this doesn't apply to conversations with lost newbies.

FAQ on moderating kibbitz in games:

Same as above but replace "helping users" with "commenting the game" and "questions from users" with "comments on the game".

N.B. All languages are welcome in game kibbitz.

FAQ on how to get a rating:

Play some rated games against rated users. First, you get a "guessed" rating with a '?', e.g. 12k? (not enough data to calculate a rating). You need at least 1 win to get higher than 10k?. After 2-3 wins and losses you get a proper rating (without '?').
